“You Are Favouring Christians More” — Mahdi Shehu Faults Remi Tinubu’s Charity Interventions

Human rights activist, Mahdi Shehu, has accused Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, of favoring Christian communities in her charity interventions under the Renewed Hope project.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Shehu alleged that Mrs. Tinubu’s relief distributions and visits to disaster-hit areas are unevenly targeted, tilting heavily towards Christian-majority states.

“Her body language, charitable spendings, and visits to disaster locations all show that the Renewed Hope project is skewed too much towards her Christian community,” Shehu wrote.

The activist claimed that states such as Benue, Plateau, Bauchi, and Kogi — with large Christian populations — have received swift attention and donations worth billions of naira. “Disaster victims, mostly Muslims, are watching a mother visibly tilted towards her chosen and preferred children,” he said, warning that such “open biases” risk fueling division, hatred, and mistrust among Nigerians.

Shehu also quoted biblical passages, including Psalms 25:8 and Isaiah 32:1-5, to emphasize fairness and justice in leadership, while urging the First Lady to reflect more deeply on her role.
