Tudun Biri Community Denies Lawsuit Against FG Over Bombing Incident
Residents of Tudun Biri community in Igabi LGA of Kaduna state have refuted claims of filing a fundamental rights suit against the federal government in connection with the recent military air strike that resulted in civilian casualties.
Dalhatu Salihu initiated the lawsuit seeking compensation for victims of the December 3 air strike, urging the court to order the federal government to pay N33 billion. However, leaders of Tudun Biri, speaking during a “thank you visit” to Governor Uba Sani, disassociated the community from the legal action, asserting they were unaware of the suit and hadn’t authorized anyone to represent them in court.
Balarabe Garba, the village head, emphasized the community’s satisfaction with the federal and state government’s response to the incident. While expressing gratitude for the support, Garba requested job opportunities for graduates from Tudun Biri.
He stated, “We are peaceful people and don’t support taking the government to court. We are happy with the reaction of the Kaduna state and federal government following the bomb incident.”
Musa Saidu, leader of Christians in the community, echoed this sentiment, appreciating the government’s efforts. He made it clear that the community had not mandated anyone to take legal action against the government.
Governor Uba Sani commended the community’s unity, dismissing attempts to give the incident a religious coloration. He assured them of continued support and proposed the formation of a committee to oversee the fair distribution of donations received from well-meaning Nigerians.
Sani stated, “We want them to bring five people from their community as members of this committee. The donations would go directly to the families of those that lost their lives and those in the hospital.”
