Troops Intercept Vehicles Carrying Suspected ISWAP Supplies in Borno

Troops of the Nigerian Army have intercepted two pickup vans conveying items suspected to be logistics supplies for the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Borno State.

The interception followed credible human intelligence on the movement of the items from Dapchi through the Magumeri general area, according to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region.

Sector 2 troops, operating in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), reportedly stopped the vehicles during the operation and arrested the drivers, who are currently being interrogated.

Items recovered from the vehicles include 31 spare tyres, 23 spare rims, two bicycles, 12 key starters, three alternators, two bags of flour and one mattress. Other items recovered are five bags of charcoal, 34 tubers of yam, two blankets, nylon bags containing garri, adult and children’s clothing, one power bank, six mobile phones and N92,600 in cash.

The vehicles and all recovered items are said to be in military custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine the suspects’ level of involvement and possible links to ISWAP logistics networks.

The troops reaffirmed their commitment to disrupting supply routes to terrorist groups and sustaining pressure on criminal elements within their area of responsibility.
