Tinubu Started Helping Me Even Before I Met Him; Let’s Massively Support His Re-election Bid – Kalu Begs Ndi Igbo
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has urged the people of the South-East to throw their full support behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027. Kalu made this appeal during a meeting with members of the Tinubu Mandate Support Group, Abia branch, and Club 17 Initiative, held on Saturday.
Speaking through a statement issued by his media aide, Udora Orizu, Kalu emphasized the need for Ndi Igbo to invest their political strength in President Tinubu, who he described as a leader committed to the progress and inclusion of the South-East. “We should invest our votes where there is progress, and that is Tinubu. It is on his mandate that we are going to stand as Ndi Igbo,” Kalu said.
Highlighting his personal relationship with the president, Kalu revealed that Tinubu’s support for him began even before they officially met. “Tinubu started helping me even before I met him. I believed in him a long time ago. I was one of those who went to meet him and begged him to run for president,” Kalu stated.
The deputy speaker praised Tinubu’s bold economic, social, and political reforms over the last two years, arguing that the president deserves a second term to continue his work. According to Kalu, Tinubu is a progressive leader who is intentional about building a lasting legacy for Nigeria. He urged Igbo people to unite and actively promote the achievements of Tinubu’s administration.
“Our business is to tell the people the good work of Tinubu’s administration. Igbo people should come together; let us give Tinubu all the support he needs,” he added.
Also speaking at the event, Chairman of the Tinubu Mandate Support Group, Armstrong Okoronkwo, commended Kalu for his performance in the National Assembly. Okoronkwo assured that the group is working tirelessly to mobilize support for Tinubu’s re-election. “We are going to tell our people what Tinubu is doing for the South-East and Abia in particular,” he said.
Okoronkwo emphasized the importance of starting early to campaign for Tinubu, noting that widespread grassroots engagement would be key to securing victory in 2027. “If we can spread out and begin to talk to people, we will make good success. We are coming out as Igbo people to make sure we give him the needed support and ensure his re-election,” he concluded.
