Tears in Court: Woman Slumps as Husband Insists on Divorce in Ilorin
Drama unfolded at an Area Court in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Thursday when a woman, Mulikat Yusuf, collapsed after her husband, Ishaq Abdulganiyu, insisted on divorcing her.
During the session, Abdulganiyu told the presiding judge, Mr. Toyin Aluko, that he was no longer interested in the marriage. Yusuf, however, pleaded with the court to intervene, saying she was not ready for a divorce. She explained that after giving birth to six children, she had nowhere else to go.
Moments after Abdulganiyu reaffirmed his intention to end the marriage, Yusuf left the courtroom in tears and collapsed. Court officials and sympathisers quickly came to her aid, reviving her by splashing water on her.
Judge Aluko advised Yusuf to explore all possible avenues to reconcile with her husband and resolve their differences amicably. The case was adjourned until December 10 for a report on settlement or continuation of the hearing.
