Super Eagles Goalkeeper Suspended by Club Over Match-Fixing Allegations
Super Eagles goalkeeper Amas Obasogie has been suspended for three months by Tanzanian Premier League side Singida Black Stars SC amid an investigation into alleged match-fixing.
The club announced the suspension on Friday through a statement from the CEO’s Office, also shared on the team’s X account. Midfielder Khalid Aucho was simultaneously suspended for three months for indiscipline and repeated absenteeism.
According to the statement, the Disciplinary Committee took action against both players: Aucho was punished for indiscipline and absenteeism, while Obasogie was suspended to allow investigation into match-fixing allegations. The club reminded all players and staff to uphold discipline, accountability, and respect for the team.
Obasogie, who joined Singida Black Stars in recent seasons, has been a regular starter in goal. The club has not disclosed which matches or incidents prompted the investigation, and no formal charges or evidence have been released publicly.
The suspension is precautionary, providing time for a full inquiry before any further action is taken. Tanzanian football authorities have not yet commented on the matter.
