Senate Confirms 64 Ambassadorial Nominees, Promises More Inclusive Appointments
The Senate has confirmed all 64 nominees for career and non-career ambassadorial positions, following a report from the Committee on Foreign Affairs. The committee, chaired by Senator Sani Bello, presented its recommendations, which were subsequently adopted by the Senate.
The confirmation process, however, was marked by concern over the absence of nominees from certain states. Senator Sahabi Yau specifically highlighted that Zamfara State had no representative on the list and called for the President to be informed of the omission.
In response, the Senate President acknowledged the concern, noting that the current list was not exhaustive. He assured lawmakers that he would raise the matter with the President and confirmed that additional ambassadorial nominations are forthcoming, ensuring that Zamfara State will be included.
The nominees follow the second list of ambassadorial appointments released by President Tinubu on November 29, 2025.
