Reps Committee Finally Meets with Rivers Sole Administrator Ibas
After multiple postponements, the House of Representatives ad hoc committee on Rivers State has finally held its long-anticipated meeting with the state’s Sole Administrator, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ibas.
The meeting, which took place on Friday, comes as the House exercises its constitutional authority to take over legislative functions in Rivers State, amid the ongoing political crisis surrounding the state’s House of Assembly.
Vice Admiral Ibas, who was recently appointed to his new role, apologised for missing earlier invitations. He told the committee that he needed more time to adequately prepare his briefing, citing the demands of settling into the position. He also appealed for the committee’s understanding as he navigates the early stages of his tenure.
Following his remarks, journalists were asked to leave the room, and the session continued behind closed doors.
