‘Release Nnamdi Kanu’: IPOB stages protest in UK during Tinubu’s visit
Members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) staged a protest in the United Kingdom on Tuesday, coinciding with the visit of President Bola Tinubu, demanding the immediate release of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
The demonstrators gathered at several locations in London, including Parliament Square, 10 Downing Street, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, and the Nigerian High Commission.
In a video circulating online, one protester said, “Our message is clear: Tinubu does not deserve a royal salute. That is our stand today, March 18.”
Protesters carried placards bearing the inscription “Free Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.” Many wore red caps and waved Biafra flags — a horizontal tricolour of red, black and green, with a golden rising sun at the centre of the black stripe.
