Real Reason Ganduje Was Forced to Resign

National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, has resigned from his position, but contrary to the official explanation citing health concerns, multiple party sources confirmed to SK Blog that his resignation was orchestrated by President Bola Tinubu. Ganduje, who was facing mounting legal battles and internal opposition, was reportedly asked to step down to pave the way for a new leadership structure that aligns with Tinubu’s 2027 political calculations.

Party insiders revealed that with heavy lobbying for the vice-presidential slot from the North West, Tinubu needed to avoid having both the party chairmanship and potential vice-presidency concentrated in the same zone. Ganduje, from Kano in the North West, became a casualty of this strategy. Sources also disclosed that Ganduje has been pencilled down for an ambassadorial posting, effectively smoothing the transition and quelling any potential backlash.

A special convention is being planned to elect a new chairman, with former Nasarawa State Governor, Senator Umar Tanko Almakura, reportedly the frontrunner.

Ganduje’s tenure as chairman was marked by controversies, including a court-ordered suspension and factional wrangling within the APC. Despite the official narrative of ill health, the underlying reason for his resignation, according to insiders, was Tinubu’s move to consolidate his grip on the party and manage the delicate regional balance of power ahead of the next election cycle.
