President Tinubu Vows Severe Punishment for Plateau Attackers, Offers Condolences to Victims’ Families

President Bola Tinubu has condemned the recent deadly attacks in Plateau State, vowing that the gunmen responsible will be captured and face severe punishment under the law. The President expressed his deep sympathy to the families of those who lost their lives in the violent assaults on the communities of Ruwi, Hurti, and Tadai in Bokkos Local Government, as well as in Manguna and Dafo villages, where properties were destroyed and lives were tragically taken.

In his message of condolence, President Tinubu also extended his support to Governor Caleb Mutfwang and the people of Plateau State. He called on the affected communities to collaborate with security agencies, encouraging them to provide vital information that could lead to the capture of the perpetrators and help secure their areas.

The President assured Governor Mutfwang of his administration’s commitment to ending the spate of violence that has plagued the region. He directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to work alongside state authorities to provide immediate relief to the victims, including assistance to those wounded during the attacks. NEMA will also focus on supporting the recovery and rebuilding efforts in the affected communities.

In a statement, President Tinubu expressed his outrage over the attacks, calling them “unacceptable” and stressing that such violence has no place in the country. He emphasized that the government would not be deterred in its efforts to protect every citizen and ensure that perpetrators face justice. He reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to eliminate the forces of evil that threaten peace and security across Nigeria.

“We will work harder to exterminate forces of evil wherever they are lurking in our country,” the President stated. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims’ families and all those affected by this senseless violence. No community should have to endure such tragedy. We all must unite to foster peace and stability. I urge all citizens—regardless of ethnic, religious, or political affiliations—to uphold the shared humanity that binds us all, embrace peace and reject retaliation.”

The statement was signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
