Police Officer Allegedly Cuts Off Wife’s Hand in Dispute Over N20,000
A police inspector is accused of cutting off his wife’s hand following a dispute over N20,000. The alleged incident took place in the Dong area of Jos North Local Government Area in Plateau State.
Eyewitnesses reported that the inspector left the money at home and when he returned, he couldn’t find it. This led to a heated argument with his wife, which quickly escalated into violence. According to sources, the police officer allegedly attacked his wife with a sharp object, severing her hand.
The State Police Command confirmed that the suspect has been arrested and is currently under investigation. Deputy Superintendent of Police Alfred Alabo, the command’s spokesman, told reporters that the inspector is being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) while investigations are underway.
“We are aware of the incident,” DSP Alabo stated over the phone. “The man is an inspector. He is at the State CID, and the investigation is ongoing. The dispute arose from an argument over some N20,000 he kept in the house. The inspector claimed he needed the money for something important.”
The victim is receiving medical treatment at a local hospital. A neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous, mentioned that the victim was pregnant and had refused to give her husband N3,000 from the N20,000 he had left behind. The disagreement quickly turned violent, resulting in the horrifying incident.
Local residents are expressing concern and outrage over the incident, emphasizing the need for justice and support for the victim. Further details about the investigation and the charges against the inspector are expected to be released as the case progresses.
