Police Launch Manhunt After RCCG Pastor, Other Bus Passengers Kidnapped
Oyo State Police have initiated a large-scale manhunt following the kidnapping of a pastor from the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and several other passengers. The incident occurred on Friday night in the Maya axis of the Lanlate-Eruwa Road, where the pastor was returning from Ipapo town, having attended to burial arrangements for his mother.
According to reports, the kidnapped cleric, Olugbenga Olawore, and the other passengers were in a 14-seater bus when gunmen ambushed them. This alarming event has prompted immediate police action.
Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the kidnapping to journalists on Saturday. He stated that some of the abductees had already been rescued and that police efforts are ongoing to recover the remaining victims.
“Some of the rescued victims are providing useful leads to aid our investigation,” SP Osifeso explained. “All routes in the area, including the surrounding forest regions, are being meticulously searched. The investigation continues, and updates will be provided as they become available.”
