Police Apprehend Notorious Kidnapper, Recover Firearms in Delta State
The Delta State Police Command has successfully apprehended a notorious kidnapper in a hotel in the Udu Local Government Area. The arrest was made by a Special Police Team from the Ughelli Division, according to Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi.
CP Olufemi announced the arrest during a press briefing, stating that in addition to the suspect, the police team recovered one pump-action gun loaded with four live cartridges, a Beretta pistol, and three rounds of 9mm ammunition.
The special team was formed in response to the rising incidents of kidnapping in the Ughelli region. Olufemi instructed the team to collaborate with the newly appointed Divisional Police Officer in Ughelli to target and apprehend the unidentified kidnappers terrorizing the area.
On April 8, 2024, the special team, acting on credible intelligence, raided a hotel in Udu LGA and successfully arrested the notorious kidnapper. Following the arrest, the suspect provided information that led to the recovery of the aforementioned firearms and ammunition.
The Delta State Police are continuing their efforts to curb kidnapping in the region and bring all perpetrators to justice.
