Physically-Challenged Man Gunned Down by Suspected Cultists
Unknown gunmen believed to be cultists shot and killed a physically-challenged man, Mutiu Akinbami, popularly known as Igor, in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The attack occurred around 6:13 p.m. near the Brewery bus stop and Olomoore Junction, leaving residents of the area in shock. Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants, driving a tinted Toyota Hilux, ambushed Akinbami while he was on a motorcycle with his daughter.
Akinbami, a former councilor of Abeokuta North Local Government Area, was said to have been trailed from his residence in the Olomoore Federal Housing Estate. Witnesses from the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) recounted how the attackers completed their mission and quickly made a detour at the Brewery Junction.
The killing has stirred discussions across the metropolis, with many claiming Akinbami was once an influential and feared member of the Eiye confraternity.
