Katsina State Police have arrested Bashir Musa, principal of Government Secondary School Shargalle in Dutsi Local Government Area, over alleged theft of school property.

The case, handled by the state’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, stems from a reported break-in at the school on January 19, 2026, around 6:00 a.m., during which inverter batteries and laboratory equipment were stolen.

Following an investigation, police traced the missing items to Musa’s residence in Shadambu Low Cost, Daura. Recovered items included four solar panels, one solar battery, five computer monitors, three CPU units, a printer, and two hair clippers, all belonging to the school.

DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, spokesperson for the Katsina State Police Command, confirmed Musa’s arrest on Monday, January 26, 2026, stating that the principal admitted involvement in the theft. A handsaw believed to have been used in the break-in was also recovered at the school.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing to locate any remaining stolen property. Further updates will be provided as the case develops.
