Peter Okoye Reacts to Reports Claiming EFCC Lacks Evidence in $800,000 Allegation Against Brothers
Singer Peter Okoye, also known as Mr P, has responded to reports suggesting that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) lacks evidence to support his claim that his brothers, Jude and Paul Okoye of the former music group P-Square, misappropriated $800,000 from their company account.
In 2024, Peter brought his brothers before the EFCC, alleging that Jude Okoye diverted company funds, operated 47 undeclared bank accounts, and manipulated the shareholding structure of Northside Entertainment Ltd., a company co-owned by the brothers.
Reports from Punch indicated that during a resumed cross-examination at the Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja on November 28, EFCC counsel Mohammed Bashir told the presiding judge, Justice Rahman Oshodi, that the commission could not present evidence supporting the alleged $800,000 withdrawal. The EFCC reportedly stated it did not have records of the accounts, and the defense presented Corporate Affairs Commission documents challenging Peter’s claim of holding an 80% stake in the company.
Reacting on social media, Peter dismissed the reports as “jokes and propaganda,” asserting that no such statement by the EFCC investigator was made in any court session.
