Party Crisis: “I am the authentic Chairman” — Danladi Declares Self APC National Chairperson

A leadership dispute has emerged within the All Progressives Congress (APC) following a declaration by political commentator and activist Alhaja Hafsatu Danladi, who announced herself as the party’s national chairperson amid ongoing internal disagreements.

Danladi said she now leads a faction within the party and described herself as the “authentic Chairman” of the APC, claiming authority over its national structure.

She stated that her group has formally communicated with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), seeking the withdrawal of recognition from the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) led by Nentawe Yilwatda.

In a statement issued by the faction, Danladi said she would be approaching the Federal High Court in Abuja to challenge the legitimacy of the current APC leadership.

According to her, the legal action is aimed at nullifying what she described as an “illegitimate structure” currently managing the affairs of the party and restoring what she termed proper constitutional order within the organisation.

She also called on the court to direct INEC to discontinue recognition of the Yilwatda-led National Working Committee, arguing that the step is necessary to ensure compliance with due process and internal party rules.

Danladi maintained that her action is driven by what she described as the need to restore legality and accountability within the ruling party, which has recently faced heightened internal disagreements over leadership structure.
