“Over 40 Terrorists Killed in Borno Airstrikes” — Nigerian Air Force

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reported that coordinated air operations in Borno State killed more than 40 terrorists, disrupting planned attacks on local communities.

NAF Spokesman Commodore Ehimen Ejodame said the precision strikes took place on January 15 and 16 in the Azir and Musarram areas, following credible intelligence on terrorist movements and imminent threats.

“Post-strike assessments confirmed no remaining threats, and feedback from ground troops and local authorities indicated a significant reduction in terrorist activity,” Ejodame stated.

The initial strike targeted terrorists preparing to launch attacks from canoes along the Baga and Fish Dam axis. Aircraft engaged about 10 canoes carrying more than 40 suspects, scattering them. Subsequent air strikes neutralized those attempting to regroup under nearby tree cover.

Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, emphasized that the operations highlight the effectiveness of intelligence-driven air power combined with close coordination with ground forces. He assured that the Nigerian Armed Forces will continue to maintain pressure on terrorist elements to stabilize affected states.
