NYSC: Corps Members Barred from August 1 Protest

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a stern warning to corps members, advising them not to participate in the upcoming nationwide protest scheduled for August 1.

The protest, themed “End Bad Governance in Nigeria,” aims to address the rising inflation and will run from August 1 to August 10. In a statement released on Saturday, Yetunde Baderinwa, the NYSC Lagos coordinator, emphasized the importance of promoting national unity and adhering to NYSC policies, which explicitly prohibit corps members from engaging in protests. “Adherence to this policy is mandatory,” Baderinwa stated.

The NYSC’s directive warns that any corps member found violating this policy will face severe disciplinary actions according to NYSC regulations. The statement underlined the core mission of NYSC to foster national harmony and cohesion, urging all corps members to comply with these principles both offline and online.

“It is against NYSC policy for any corps member to participate in any form of protests, whether physically or online. Engaging in such activities goes against the very essence of our mission to propagate national unity,” the statement reads.
