Not Health Reasons: Sowore Reveals Real Cause of Badaru’s Resignation as Defence Minister
Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has claimed that Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru Abubakar’s resignation was not due to health issues, as officially stated. Abubakar stepped down on Monday, with reports citing health concerns as the reason.
Sowore, however, suggested in a Facebook post that President Bola Tinubu asked Abubakar to step aside to allow for the appointment of former Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa as the new Defence Minister. “Abubakar was asked by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to step aside to make room for former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa to be appointed Defence Minister,” Sowore wrote.
In addition, the activist alleged that the government is under pressure regarding the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle. Sowore claimed that the United States military has expressed concerns over intelligence sharing and collaboration, reportedly pushing for Matawalle’s removal.
