NNPCL Deploys Over 100 Trucks to Dangote Refinery Ahead of Tomorrow’s Fuel Loading

Th Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has deployed more than 100 trucks to the Dangote Refinery in Lagos. This move is in preparation for the scheduled commencement of fuel loading tomorrow, Sunday, September 15, 2024.

The state-owned NNPCL made the announcement via a brief statement, accompanied by several images showcasing hundreds of trucks positioned within the refinery’s premises in Ibeju-Lekki. “In preparation for the Dangote Refinery’s scheduled petrol loading, NNPC Ltd. has mobilized trucks to the refinery’s fuel loading gantry,” the company revealed, adding that additional trucks are on their way.

This deployment comes after the Nigerian government confirmed that fuel supply from the Dangote Refinery would begin on September 15, following an agreement on pricing and supply terms. The agreement, announced by Zacch Adedeji, Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service and a member of the Presidential Committee on the Sale of Crude Oil and Refined Products, specifies that NNPCL will be the exclusive off-taker of petrol from the refinery.

From October 1, 2024, NNPCL is also expected to supply 385,000 barrels of crude oil per day to the refinery, with payments to be made in Naira. This marks a major milestone in the refinery’s operations and is expected to significantly boost Nigeria’s fuel production capacity.

The Dangote Refinery, owned by billionaire Aliko Dangote, has been widely anticipated as a transformative project for Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. With the ability to refine 650,000 barrels of oil per day, the facility is poised to meet Nigeria’s domestic fuel needs while also positioning the country as a potential exporter of refined products.

NNPCL’s mobilization of trucks signals the beginning of a new era in Nigeria’s fuel distribution network, as the country aims to reduce its reliance on fuel imports and strengthen its energy security.
