Nigerian Youths Should Focus on Tech, Not Hardship – FG
The Federal Government has urged Nigerian youths to shift their focus from economic hardship and instead embrace opportunities in the technology sector to secure financial independence and a stable future.
Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, made the call on Monday in Abeokuta, Ogun State, while inaugurating a community ICT centre built by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and donated to Egbaland.
The event also saw the commissioning of a library and administrative building donated by Ogun West Senator Solomon Adeola (Yayi) at the newly established Abeokuta City Hall Complex.
Reflecting on his own experiences growing up in Abeokuta, Tijani noted the absence of ICT facilities in the past, which limited opportunities for young people to develop their skills. He emphasized that the new ICT hub aims to bridge this gap and provide a platform for youths to explore their talents and creativity.
The Minister revealed that 30 similar centres had been established across Nigeria, with plans to commission them in the coming months. Encouraging young people to remain determined, he highlighted the vast employment prospects within the technology sector, stressing that the industry offers highly competitive salaries.
“If you ask anyone working in technology, the entry salary is between N350,000 and N500,000. Technology pays really well, so instead of worrying about things being hard, they should take advantage of centers like this, empower themselves, and seize the opportunities available,” Tijani stated.
Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, commended the Minister for his contribution to the community. He called on other Egba indigenes, both at home and abroad, to follow Tijani’s example by using their influence and resources to support the development of Egbaland and Ogun State.
