Nigerian Military Neutralizes Terrorist Commanders, Rescues 37 Kidnapping Victims
The Nigerian Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced significant successes in recent military operations, including the elimination of key terrorist commanders, the rescue of 37 kidnapped individuals, and the apprehension of multiple suspects across the country.
According to Major General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, these operations took place between August 7 and August 13 under the Joint Task Forces in the North-east, North-west, North-central, South-east, and South-south regions. The missions combined air and ground assaults with support from sister security agencies and hybrid forces.
“The troops displayed exceptional courage, resilience, and determination in dismantling terrorist networks, combating insurgency and banditry, and suppressing criminal activities. The terrorists’ will to fight has been shattered,” Major General Kangye said.
In the North-east, troops operating under Operation Hadin Kai successfully neutralized several Boko Haram and ISWAP commanders in locations including Limankara, Pulka, and Kareto across Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states. During these operations, 16 suspected terrorists were arrested, five hostages were rescued, and weapons, vehicles, motorcycles, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were recovered and safely detonated.
