Nigerian Man Shot Dead by Fellow Nigerian in the Philippines
A tragic incident unfolded in the early hours of Monday, May 26, 2025, when a Nigerian man known as Babylon was shot and killed by another Nigerian during a birthday celebration in Los Banos, Laguna, Philippines.
The party, hosted by a man identified as Obinna, took place at a private residence and drew attendees from different Nigerian groups living in the country. Tensions reportedly escalated between two rival factions during the event. Babylon’s group had been gathered downstairs, while the rival group occupied the upper floor of the residence.
According to eyewitness accounts, the situation turned violent when Babylon’s group went upstairs to inform the host that they were leaving. They were confronted and blocked by members of the opposing faction, leading to a heated argument. Although Babylon’s group initially retreated downstairs, a member of the upstairs group followed them and reignited the confrontation. The altercation quickly turned deadly when shots were fired, striking Babylon.
Surveillance footage circulating online captured the moment of the shooting, showing guests fleeing the scene in panic. Babylon reportedly attempted to escape but collapsed in a nearby bush, where he succumbed to his injuries. His body was later discovered at the location.
The shooter fled before police arrived, and no arrests have been made as of the time of reporting. A source, who requested anonymity, stated that Babylon lived in Manila and had traveled to Laguna specifically for the party. The incident is suspected to be cult-related, though authorities have yet to confirm any motive.
Concerns have also been raised regarding Babylon’s remains, as no one has come forward to claim his body. Reports indicate he has a wife and children in Nigeria, and efforts are currently underway to contact his family.
