Nigerian Lecturer Allegedly Dies by Su1cide
A 45-year-old lecturer, Samson Philip, was found dead on Tuesday morning, May 13, 2025, in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State, in what authorities suspect to be a case of suicide.
The late Samson, who until his death was a lecturer at the Taraba State College of Health Technology, Takum, was discovered with a rope around his neck. Reports also indicate that a bottle containing an unknown substance was found near his body.
Local police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding his death. He was buried later that same day in Bete, Takum.
Pharmacist Henry Kasimu, who attended the burial and shared photos online, expressed sorrow over Samson’s passing. In a tribute, he reflected on the social stigma and judgment that often prevent people from speaking openly about their struggles. He speculated that fears of gossip, ridicule, or misunderstanding may have silenced Samson in his final days.
“People were speculating possible reasons, and all were just ‘maybes.’ Only God and Samson knew the real reason,” Kasimu wrote, adding that the deceased may have felt isolated in seeking help. He concluded his message by praying for Samson’s soul to find peace.
