Nigerian Air Force Eliminates Terrorist Kingpin “Yellow Jambros” and Associates in Coordinated Air Operation
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully neutralized the notorious terrorist and kidnap kingpin, Yellow Jambros, and a group of accomplices in the Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.
The operation, executed by the Air Component of Operation Whirl Punch, targeted Yellow Jambros and his cohorts as they attempted to cross the Jikudna River in the Galadima Kogo District. The announcement came through a statement signed by Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, on Sunday.
Prior to the airstrike, intelligence indicated that Yellow Jambros and his associates were traced from Zamfara State into Niger State, riding a convoy of 13 motorcycles along the Kaduna-Niger State border, en route to Kusasu in Shiroro LGA. At Kusasu, five additional motorcycle-riding terrorists joined the convoy, bringing the total to 18 motorcycles.
The group then proceeded to the bank of River Jikudna, where they boarded a large motor-powered canoe in an attempt to cross the river and link up with other terrorists on the opposite side. It was at this critical juncture that the NAF authorized a precision strike, effectively neutralizing Yellow Jambros and his colleagues. The strike also resulted in the destruction of their motorcycles and the sinking of the boat.
The statement highlighted the unusual daytime movement of terrorists in a convoy of 18 motorcycles, suggesting that Yellow Jambros and his cohorts may have assumed a temporary suspension of air strikes. This assumption proved fatal for the terrorists.
Yellow Jambros and his associates have been notorious for their involvement in numerous kidnappings and killings along the Abuja-Kaduna Road and in various communities across Kaduna, Niger, Katsina, and Zamfara States. The successful operation has dealt a significant blow to their criminal activities.
The statement recalled an incident in October 2020 when a kidnapped kingpin named Mohammed Sani, apprehended by the police in Zamfara State for murdering over 50 victims, revealed that he worked for Yellow Jambros. The kingpin disclosed that Yellow Jambros supplied him with fake military and police uniforms, guns, and other weapons necessary for executing his operations.
This latest operation underscores the commitment of the Nigerian Air Force to combatting terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of citizens in the region.
