NAFDAC Warns Nigerians Over Recalled Indomie Vegetable Flavour Noodles
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has warned Nigerians about a recalled Indomie noodles product following concerns over undeclared allergens.
In a public alert numbered 041/2025 published on its official website on Friday, NAFDAC said French food safety authorities, Rappel Conso, issued a recall notice for Indomie Vegetable Flavour noodles. According to the agency, the recall was prompted by the presence of undeclared milk and egg allergens, which could pose serious health risks to individuals with allergies or intolerances.
NAFDAC noted that while the chances of the affected product entering Nigeria remain low due to the Federal Government’s ban on the importation of noodles, the agency considers the situation serious enough to warrant heightened vigilance. It warned that illicit importation, online purchases, or products brought in through international travel cannot be completely ruled out.
The agency disclosed that it has commenced monitoring and surveillance activities to prevent the recalled product from finding its way into Nigerian markets. It also advised distributors, retailers, and other stakeholders within the supply chain to remain alert and ensure the recalled foreign Indomie product is neither distributed nor sold.
Consumers were cautioned against purchasing or consuming the recalled noodles and urged to check product details carefully. Those already in possession of the affected product were advised not to consume it. NAFDAC further called on members of the public to report any suspected sale or circulation of the recalled noodles to the appropriate authorities.
The warning comes amid broader efforts by NAFDAC to safeguard public health, following recent alerts on the circulation of substandard and unregistered food products in the country.
