“My Husband Makes Love from Midnight Till Sunrise, I Can’t Cope” – Woman Seeking Divorce Tells Court
A 37-year-old woman, Linda Stephen, has filed for divorce at a Kaduna Customary Court, citing her husband’s excessive sexual demands and alleged physical abuse as reasons for her decision.
Linda, a resident of Ungwan Sunday in Kaduna, told the court that her husband, Felix Stephen, had subjected her to unbearable conditions, particularly due to his relentless need for intimacy. She stated that his actions left her physically and emotionally exhausted, making it impossible for her to continue in the marriage.
“I urge the court to dissolve this marriage because I can’t stand his excessive sexual urge. He likes it too much, and I can’t bear it,” she told the court. She further alleged that Felix often engaged her in prolonged intimate encounters, sometimes lasting from midnight until dawn, even when she pleaded for him to stop.
According to Linda, she had moved out of their home three months ago due to these issues, but Felix’s relatives had repeatedly urged her to return. She also accused her husband of becoming violent whenever she resisted his advances, stating that he had assaulted her in front of their two children.
In response, Felix admitted to his actions but pleaded with the court not to grant the divorce, assuring that he was willing to change. He explained that he had made several attempts to reconcile with his wife, even involving family members, but she refused to listen.
Presiding over the case, Judge John Dauda adjourned the matter until May 6 to allow for reconciliation efforts, advising both parties to maintain peace in the meantime.
