“Maybe Mehdi Hasan Didn’t Do His Job Well; There Was So Much” — Rufai Oseni Reacts to Daniel Bwala’s Viral Interview
A presenter on Arise Television’s Morning Show, Rufai Oseni, has criticized Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Policy Communication, over his recent appearance on Head to Head hosted by Mehdi Hasan on Al Jazeera.
Speaking during Monday’s broadcast, Oseni said the interview did not fully confront Bwala with several of his past statements about President Tinubu.
The criticism follows reactions to Bwala’s interview on the programme last week, where he denied making some critical remarks about Tinubu before his appointment to the administration.
Oseni argued that a number of Bwala’s earlier comments about the president are publicly documented and could have been referenced during the discussion.
“Bwala came back to fact-check him and said he was wrong,” Oseni said. “Like I said, maybe Mehdi didn’t do his job well because there were so much. How will he explain ‘Even if you give Tinubu 30 years, nothing will work’? It goes on like that.”
He added that individuals who position themselves in opposition roles should rely on verifiable facts when making arguments.
Oseni also accused Bwala of selectively presenting information while responding to criticism from the interview, saying some of the points raised were “cherry-picked” rather than supported by empirical evidence.
The Arise Television host further recalled Bwala’s previous appearance on the network, where similar questions about his past statements were raised during a discussion on the programme.
