Katsina Police Arrest Man for K1lling Woman and Child Over Paternity Dispute
Katsina State Police have arrested a 35-year-old man, Shabi Rabi’u, in connection with the killing of a woman and her 10-month-old child in Sheme village, Faskari Local Government Area. The incident reportedly arose from a dispute over the paternity of the child.
According to the state police spokesperson, Abubakar Aliyu, Rabi’u admitted during questioning that he and an accomplice, who remains at large, lured the victims to a bush outside the village. The victims were then killed, their bodies set on fire, and the remains discarded in a nearby well.
The police confirmed that the bodies have been recovered and are investigating the case further while making efforts to apprehend the fleeing accomplice. Aliyu called on the public to provide any information that could assist in locating the second suspect, assuring that all tips would be handled confidentially.
Katsina State Police Commissioner Bello Shehu condemned the killings, describing them as inhumane, and stated that the police would conduct a thorough investigation to ensure those responsible are held accountable.
