Katsina Governor Joins Security Forces to Foil Terrorist Attack, Rescue Abductee

Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, actively participated in a joint security operation that successfully foiled a planned terrorist attack on Zakka community in the Safana Local Government Area of the state. The governor’s involvement came as a response to distress calls received during his visit to inaugurate an empowerment program sponsored by Deputy Speaker Alhaji Abduljalal Runka.

According to a statement from the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Kaula Mohammed, Governor Radda, upon receiving intelligence reports of the impending attack, promptly called off the program and joined a combined team of security personnel. This team included officers from the Nigeria Police, Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji, ground troops of the Army, and the Community Security Watch Corps.

The encounter with the terrorists unfolded in Zakka forest, where a 30-minute intense gun battle ensued. Governor Radda and his entourage played a pivotal role in the operation, resulting in the successful rescue of a 33-year-old man who had been abducted by the bandits.

Mr. Mohammed reported, “After a heavy gun battle, the gallant troops managed to rescue the victim, who had sustained injuries, particularly a gunshot wound to the leg. Regrettably, the terrorists, though thwarted in their mission, managed to escape without suffering any casualties.”

Post-operation, Governor Radda immediately directed that the rescued victim be transported to the hospital for urgent medical treatment. The governor’s courageous involvement highlights the commitment of Katsina State’s leadership to ensuring the safety and security of its citizens in the face of escalating threats from criminal elements.
