JUST IN: Tinubu Announces New Appointment
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has named retired Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Idris Adamu as the new chairman of the Military Pensions Board, with his appointment taking effect on December 1, 2025.
The announcement was issued on Tuesday by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. According to the statement, the decision aligns with the administration’s drive to improve transparency, accountability and overall efficiency in managing pensions for military personnel.
Adamu, a native of Borno State, is widely regarded as an accomplished financial specialist with a long career in the Nigerian Air Force. His service record includes roles as Directing Staff at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Deputy Director of Budget at the Defence Intelligence Agency, Principal Staff Officer for Finance at the Air Warfare Centre and Commander of the 081 Pay and Accounting Group.
He also served as Director of Finance at NAF Headquarters and later became Managing Director of Nigerian Air Force Investment Limited and the NAFIL Group of Companies. In addition, he was a Directing Staff at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies in Kuru.
The president called on Adamu to bring his experience and sense of duty to the board, emphasizing the need to enhance the welfare of military retirees and ensure prudent management of pension funds.
