JUST IN: Senate Unseals Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Office, Paving Way for Resumption
The Senate has unsealed the office of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central, located in Suite 2.05 of the Senate wing. The unsealing was carried out by Alabi Adedeji, Deputy Director of the Sergeant-At-Arms, according to a video obtained by our correspondent. Sources close to the senator also confirmed the development.
The move comes after Akpoti-Uduaghan’s six-month suspension, imposed in March over alleged misconduct, expired. The unsealing of her office is seen as clearing the way for her to access the National Assembly and resume her legislative duties.
Her suspension had sparked nationwide debate, including in the diaspora, with calls for her reinstatement. A court had previously described the six-month ban as “excessive.” Akpoti-Uduaghan had written to the Clerk of the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, requesting facilitation for her return. The Clerk had earlier stated that she could not resume due to pending appeals in her case against the Senate.
With her office now reopened, Akpoti-Uduaghan may soon resume her role in the National Assembly, marking a potential end to the months-long suspension saga.
