JUST IN: Otti Meets Tinubu to Discuss Nnamdi Kanu’s Release Efforts
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu met with Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, on Tuesday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The meeting is understood to be part of ongoing efforts to secure the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), who is currently serving his sentence at Sokoto prison.
Governor Otti recently visited Kanu at the facility, accompanied by Kanu’s younger brother, Emmanuel, Abia State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice Ikechukwu Uwanna (SAN), his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity Ferdinand Ekeoma, and officials from the Sokoto State Government.
Otti has consistently emphasized that resolving Kanu’s case remains a key priority for his administration. Following the Sokoto visit, he stated that the state was pursuing a coordinated strategy to secure Kanu’s freedom through all lawful channels. “While Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is free to appeal his conviction, I’m happy to inform you that I have activated, and will continue to work on, the already agreed strategy until his freedom is secured,” he said through his media aide.
Tuesday’s meeting with President Tinubu is part of the governor’s ongoing political and legal efforts aimed at resolving the long-standing matter.
