JUST IN: Fubara Officially Announces Defection to APC, Gives Reason
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has confirmed his exit from the Peoples Democratic Party, declaring his decision to join the All Progressives Congress after months of political uncertainty in the state.
Speaking in Port Harcourt on Tuesday evening, the governor explained that his move was motivated by appreciation for the support Rivers State has continued to receive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He said the relationship between the state and the Presidency had strengthened in recent months, making his political alignment a logical step.
The announcement ends long-running speculation over whether he would embrace the ruling party, a possibility widely discussed since the peace intervention that eased tensions between him and the President.
