JUST IN: “All 38 Worshippers Have Been Rescued” — President Tinubu
President Bola Tinubu has announced the successful rescue of all 38 worshippers abducted from a church in Eruku, Kwara State last week. The announcement came on Sunday, following intensive operations by Nigeria’s security forces.
In a statement, Tinubu said, “Thanks to the efforts of our security forces over the last few days, all the 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State have been rescued.”
The president also confirmed progress in another high-profile abduction case, noting that 51 of the more than 300 students kidnapped from a Catholic school in Niger State have been recovered.
He assured Nigerians of his ongoing commitment to security, stating, “I am closely monitoring the security situation nationwide and receiving continuous updates from the frontline. Let me be clear: I will not relent. Every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety — and under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people.”
Tinubu revealed that he had cancelled a scheduled trip to the G20 summit in South Africa to focus on coordinating security efforts at home. He praised the work of security personnel, highlighting their dedication in rescuing the victims.
