“I Stole Noodles for My Three Girlfriends but None Visited Me in Prison,” Man Laments
A 24-year-old man in Adamawa has voiced deep regret after admitting he stole cartons of noodles for his three girlfriends, only to be left on his own once he ended up behind bars.
Usama Abdullahi shared his frustrations while appearing before the Adamawa jail delivery committee, a mobile court reviewing cases to ease congestion in correctional centres. He explained that he fled to another town after committing the offence but was eventually arrested and handed a two-year sentence at the Shelleng Satellite Custodial Facility.
Abdullahi, who worked at a car wash in Shelleng, said he had taken the noodles with the intention of sharing them among his girlfriends. He told the committee that despite his intentions, none of the three made any attempt to visit him during his time in custody, adding that he now plans to end all the relationships once released.
Moved by his appeal, committee chairperson Hafsat Abdulrahman reviewed his case and replaced the prison term with community service.
