“I Can Make You Disappear and Nothing will Happen”: APGA Federal Lawmaker Caught Assaulting Bolt Driver Over Snail Delivery

Hon. Alex Ifeanyi Mascot Ikwechegh, a member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives representing Aba North and South Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has sparked widespread outrage. A viral video shows Ikwechegh physically assaulting a Bolt driver in Abuja, allegedly over a disagreement about a snail delivery.

According to reports, the confrontation began when the driver delivered snails to Ikwechegh’s residence but refused to carry the items directly inside, instead asking the lawmaker to collect them himself. The video reveals a visibly angered Ikwechegh hitting the driver and making intimidating threats. “Can you imagine this rat? I can make this man disappear in this Nigeria and nothing will happen,” the lawmaker was heard saying. He further claimed to be a senator, heightening concerns over his perceived abuse of authority.

The incident has drawn widespread condemnation across social media, with Nigerians expressing outrage over what they see as a misuse of power. Many are calling for Ikwechegh to face immediate consequences for his actions. This confrontation also raises concerns about the safety and work conditions for ride-hailing and delivery drivers in Nigeria, sparking new debates around protections for gig economy workers.

To date, neither Bolt, the ride-hailing company involved, nor the leadership of the House of Representatives or APGA has issued any official response. As pressure mounts, Nigerians are demanding a full investigation into the assault, with growing calls for Ikwechegh to be held accountable if found guilty of misconduct.
