Hunger Protest: Heavily Armed Soldiers Take Over Adamawa Roads
Adamawa State capital is under a heavy security presence as authorities brace for a nationwide hunger protest scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday. A large contingent of security personnel, including the Army, Air Force, Police, and various paramilitary forces, has mobilized in a show of strength. The operation involves a convoy of over 200 vehicles, patrolling key areas of the city.
In response to the looming protest, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has urged citizens to refrain from participating and to maintain peace for the continued development of the state. The State Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mr. Iliya James, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the state’s reputation for peace and the administration’s commitment to development.
James called on residents to avoid gatherings that could lead to unrest or be exploited by miscreants. He acknowledged the public’s hardship and confirmed that the Federal Government’s promised 20 trucks of food items for the state have yet to arrive. Despite these challenges, James assured that the state government has been actively distributing relief materials within its capacity.
