“Hunger Is a Universal Issue — It Didn’t Start With Bola Tinubu,” Says Zack Orji
Veteran Nollywood actor Zack Orji has defended President Bola Tinubu amid ongoing criticism of the administration, arguing that public opinion is often shaped by unverified information circulating on social media.
Speaking on the KaaTruths podcast, Orji recounted an encounter in the United Kingdom where individuals questioned his support for the president. He said his position is based on personal conviction, adding that he sees no reason to withhold support if he believes the government is moving in the right direction.
The actor emphasized the need for patience, noting that policy reforms typically involve dismantling existing systems before new ones can take effect. According to him, such transitions are rarely smooth and require time to produce measurable outcomes.
Orji also criticized what he described as a lack of thorough research among Nigerians, stating that misinformation online plays a significant role in shaping negative perceptions. He maintained that many people rely on unverified claims rather than seeking accurate information.
On the state of the economy, Orji argued that recent reforms are beginning to show results, including a reduction in food prices. In response to concerns about widespread hardship, he said hunger is a global issue and not unique to the current administration.
His remarks come as public debate continues over the impact of government policies, with many Nigerians expressing concern over the rising cost of living and economic pressures. Orji has previously described Tinubu as the most qualified potential candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
