“He married me under false pretence and scammed me of my money” — American woman accuses Nigerian husband and his family of $80,000 fraud
A 55-year-old American woman has taken to social media to accuse her 26-year-old Nigerian husband and his family of allegedly scamming her of $80,000 over a three-year period.
In an emotional video shared online, the woman said she decided to speak out to raise awareness about romance scams, warning others not to fall victim. She revealed that she is a single mother battling health challenges, including a heart condition and diabetes, and claimed the man and his family deliberately targeted her despite her financial struggles.
The woman alleged that her husband, identified as Kindness, entered into a legal marriage with her under false pretences. She also accused his siblings — named as Godness, Ifeanyi, and Ebuka — of participating in the scheme, saying they have been living lavishly, frequently visiting lounges and hotels at her expense.
According to her, the family presented themselves as devout Christians, with the father being a church deacon. She questioned their religious values, saying: “How do you go to church and pray to God, and then you’re taking money from me, and you marry me under false pretence?”
She further declared that she has cursed the family, vowing to hold them accountable for what she described as betrayal and exploitation. “Till my last breath, I’m going to make sure this family pays for what they did to me,” she said, adding that her husband entertained other women while she was providing for him.
The woman urged others to learn from her experience and be cautious, warning that the man is “looking for the next victim.”
