Gunmen Abduct Anglican Priest and Wife in Early Morning Attack
Gunmen have abducted an Anglican priest and his wife during an early morning attack in Nissi community, located in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The victims, identified as Reverend Edwin Achi and his wife, Sarah Achi, were taken from their residence in the community on Tuesday morning. According to sources within the Anglican Church of Nigeria, the armed men stormed the area in the early hours, forcing their way into the couple’s home before whisking them away to an unknown destination.
A church member who confirmed the incident expressed frustration that such attacks often go underreported, despite the growing insecurity across Kaduna State.
Kaduna has witnessed a surge in violent crimes in recent months, with bandits and armed groups frequently targeting both civilians and security personnel.
Just last week, two police officers were killed when gunmen attacked a Divisional Police Headquarters in Zonkwa, the headquarters of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area. Earlier in October, nine people, including three children, were killed in an attack on Layin Danauta village in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area. Several others sustained serious injuries in that assault.
