“Get Lost If You’re Tired of Supporting Me” – Speed Darlington Speaks After Splitting with Lawyer
Singer Speed Darlington has issued a strong message to his supporters, telling those tired of backing him to leave. His statement came shortly after he announced his separation from his lawyer, Stanley Alieke.
Alieke’s law firm, Law Capitol, recently shared on Instagram that it had severed ties with the controversial artist. This decision followed Darlington’s release from a prolonged detention by the Nigerian police over allegations of cyberstalking fellow musician Burna Boy.
In a viral Instagram video, Darlington reacted to those advising him to drop his feud with Burna Boy, telling them to leave if they no longer wished to support him. He reaffirmed his commitment to his music, stating that his life is his content and that no one should dictate what he posts.
“I’m on my way to the studio for more music. Let nobody tell me what to post. If you are tired of supporting, you get lost. And let my God guide me,” he declared. He also dismissed criticism about his approach, arguing that he finances his own career and does not rely on others.
Taking another jab at Burna Boy, he captioned the video: “Always singing about police brutality in Nigeria. Yet he proceeds to hire police to hold me longer. And this is only what you can say? Leave him and move on.”
Darlington’s legal troubles began in late 2024 after he mocked Burna Boy’s ties to American rapper Diddy. He was arrested twice, in October and November, and spent two months in Kuje prison. He has previously suggested that Burna Boy’s Grammy win in 2021 was influenced by his relationship with Diddy.
In October, he released a diss track, Baby Oil, targeting Burna Boy and Diddy, which gained traction on Spotify Nigeria. Since his release, he has continued referencing the track in his content, hinting at a full-scale comeback.
Following his time in detention, Darlington told his fans he had been “gathering energy” and was ready to return with a “banger.”
