G5 will Support Tinubu in 2027 – Ortom
Samuel Ortom, the former governor of Benue state, revealed on Sunday that the G5 leaders are poised to support President Bola Tinubu’s potential re-election bid in 2027. Ortom made this announcement during an event organized by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), in Port Harcourt, the capital city of Rivers state.
The G5 coalition comprises key figures such as Wike, Ortom, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (former governor of Enugu), Seyi Makinde (governor of Oyo), and Okezie Ikpeazu (former governor of Abia), all prominent members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Notably, during the 2023 elections, these leaders chose to support Wike instead of endorsing the presidential candidacy of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.
Ortom expressed his endorsement of Tinubu, emphasizing the latter’s reputation as a seasoned administrator. He stated, “If we work to ensure Bola Ahmed succeeds, there will be tomorrow for anybody to even contest the election at all.” The former Benue governor highlighted the importance of allowing Tinubu, whom he described as a seasoned administrator, to lead the nation for eight years, drawing parallels to previous administrations.
“Our leader, Nyesom Wike, has already made a declaration that in 2027, we are supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We have nowhere to go because that is what Nigerians believe,” Ortom affirmed, advocating for Tinubu to be given the opportunity to address the challenges facing the nation.
