FIRS Releases Identities of Four Staff Killed in Afriland Towers Fire
The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has released the names of four staff members who lost their lives in Tuesday’s fire at Afriland Towers on Broad Street, Lagos.
In a statement by Dare Adekanmbi, media aide to FIRS chairman Zacch Adedeji, the victims were on the sixth and seventh floors of the building when the fire broke out. They were said to have died after inhaling smoke as the blaze spread across the high-rise.
Those who died in the incident are:
George Faith Ekelikhostse, 58, an assistant director who had worked with the service for 32 years. She was due for voluntary retirement in just three days.
Sunday-Jatto David, 51, an assistant director with 15 years of service.
Ifaranmaye Peter, 48, a manager who had spent nine years at the agency.
Onyemelukwe Nkem, 54, a senior manager with 13 years in service.
The FIRS said the deaths have left the organisation in deep mourning as colleagues and associates remember the dedication and contributions of the four officers.
