Fire Razes Cartage Cinema House in Asaba
A devastating fire engulfed Cartage Cinema, a popular entertainment venue in Asaba, the capital of Delta State, yesterday.
The blaze erupted around 1:00 PM at the cinema located on Okpanam Road in Oshimili North Local Government Area. As of the latest updates, firefighters were still battling to contain the flames.
Local police swiftly closed Okpanam Road to manage traffic and ensure public safety. The cinema, situated opposite the Delta State House of Assembly, is in close proximity to a Rain Oil filling station and Gabbs Supermarket, heightening concerns over potential hazards.
In response to the fire, staff at the nearby petrol station ceased fuel sales as a precaution. Additionally, members of the Red Cross were present on-site to provide emergency assistance if needed.
Firefighters from the Delta State Fire Service were deployed to the scene with their equipment, working diligently to control the inferno and prevent further damage.
