Fintiri Raises Corps Members’ Allowance to N30,000 in Renewed Commitment to Youth Welfare
Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has approved an increase in the monthly allowance for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state, raising it from N20,000 to N30,000. The announcement was made on Friday at the swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course, held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Damare, Girei Local Government Area.
Addressing the newly sworn-in corps members while dressed in full NYSC attire, Governor Fintiri reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth development and the well-being of those posted to Adamawa. He explained that the increment reflects the government’s efforts to create a supportive and conducive environment for national service, which also includes regular provision of food items and other welfare initiatives. “This increment aligns with our promise to create a friendly and supportive atmosphere for you,” he stated.
The governor also disclosed that preparations are underway for the construction of a new NYSC camp in the state. He directed the State NYSC Coordinator to involve corps members with relevant expertise in architecture, civil engineering, and quantity surveying in supervising the project.
Fintiri congratulated the corps members on completing their academic programs and welcomed them to Adamawa, assuring them of the state government’s hospitality. He described corps members as strategic partners in implementing government policies, particularly in the education sector, and urged them to uphold discipline, engage in community development, and foster healthy interactions throughout their service year. He emphasized the importance of the orientation course in preparing them for the challenges of national service.
The Commissioner for Youths and Chairman of the NYSC Governing Board in Adamawa, Barrister Wali Yakubu, encouraged corps members to take the orientation course seriously, adhere to camp regulations, and seize skill acquisition opportunities to build self-reliance beyond their service year. The State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Osoro Caroline, commended the corps members’ discipline and positive attitude since their arrival. She highlighted the orientation program’s goal of equipping participants with the tools necessary to contribute meaningfully to national development.
Mrs. Osoro also praised Governor Fintiri for his continued support, particularly the stipend increase and plans for a modern NYSC camp, describing him as a visionary leader and strong advocate for youth empowerment. The ceremony featured the administration of the oath of allegiance by the Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Justice Hapsat Abdurrahman, and a presentation of the NYSC journal to the Governor.
