Final-Year Student Dies During Six-Month Pregnancy Abortion
A final-year student of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, has died during an abortion procedure at a private clinic in the state capital. The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Al-Hassan Clinic and Maternity, Sarkin Noma.
The deceased, identified as 26-year-old Omotosho Dorcas, was reportedly six months pregnant when she visited the clinic for the termination. According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, she lost her life after excessive bleeding during the procedure.
Police detectives who arrived at the scene took photographs and evacuated the body to the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, where it has been preserved. The person suspected to have carried out the procedure has been arrested, and the case is expected to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
