Family of Nnamdi Kanu Commends DSS Ahead of Supreme Court Verdict

In a recent visit to the Department of State Services (DSS) headquarters in Abuja, the family of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), expressed gratitude to the DSS for complying with court orders regarding Kanu’s visitation rights.

Prince Emmanuel Kanu, the family’s spokesperson, commended the DSS for allowing all three court-authorized visitors unrestricted access to Nnamdi Kanu. He acknowledged the positive shift, highlighting that previous visits had faced restrictions imposed by the security agency.

The family, which had previously raised concerns about the DSS’s non-compliance with court orders, decided to acknowledge the recent adherence and urged the security agency to maintain this stance during future visits.

In addition to expressing gratitude, Prince Emmanuel conveyed a message from Nnamdi Kanu, cautioning both Biafra agitators and security agents to exercise heightened vigilance in the days leading up to the Supreme Court judgment on December 15. Kanu emphasized the importance of maintaining a peaceful approach to the restoration of Biafra and disassociated himself and IPOB from any acts of violence.

“I met with my brother today, and I want to commend the DSS for allowing the family full access to him unlike before. He made it clear that he does not support violence and should not be associated with such. He also told security agents not to hide under any guise to cause confusion. Security agents have problems among themselves and can cause a problem and blame it on IPOB. He said everybody should be careful,” said Prince Emmanuel Kanu.
